Gorey, photographs, portraits, and the cover of Dec. 21, 1992 issue of The New Yorker designed by E. Gorey. "The above is a complete listing of the collection of letters and illustrations by Edward Gorey, sent to, and personally given to his dear lifelong friend Bea Moss (nee Rosen). ... These writings and illustrations have never been published or for that matter, even seen, except by the parties for whom they were intended. Although Mr. Gorey never dated his letters with a year or month, (only the day of the week), they date from the early 1940's, through the late 1970's."--P. Edward Gorey was born February 22, 1925, in Chicago, Ill, and died April 15, 2000, in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He followed a career as author, illustrator, and designer. His books for children are generally regarded as nonsense fiction, while his writing for adults is more satirical. He is better known, however, for his illustrations....
